"Brother To Brother" is the sixth studio album by Canadian singer Gino Vannelli. The album was released in 1978. The album featured "I Just Wanna Stop", Gino's highest-charting single to date, and the singles "Wheels of Life" and "The River Must Flow".
With the release of "Brother To Brother" Gino Vannelli's artistic excellence is on full display as Vannelli has once again delivered a brilliant collection of tracks that could very well be him best work to date. "Brother To Brother" grabs your attention right out of the gate with "Appaloosa" and won't let go until the very last note of the very last song "People I Belong To", which by the way is another great track. "Brother To Brother" has a nicely varied, mix of 9 tracks that are very well written songs by this clearly superb artist. Most of the songs display a lot of the kind emotion that makes for a really great listen. Clearly drawing from what I can only imagine are him own real life experiences. At different points touching on the most real emotions like love, and the pain of failed relationships can certainly be heard. This album, and especially his live shows, featured some of the best musicians of their time, playing some of the hottest jazz-rock that you’ll ever hear. Gino’s drummer on this album was the great Mark Craney. You might know him from playing with Jean-Luc Ponty or even Jethro Tull. You want some hot guitar? Daryl Stuermer was part of Gino’s live band for this tour. You might know him from playing with Genesis, Frank Zappa or his own band, Sweetbottom. Jimmy Haslip was the bassist and a main contributor to the Yellowjackets.
