New arrangements and orchestrations were commissioned for the adaptation, with Corgan collaborating with conductor James Lowe.

Christopher Cross - All Right [The Worldwide SINGLES 1980-1988] (2025)

The collection All Right: The Worldwide Singles 1980–1988 is the first-ever complete compilation of Christopher Cross's worldwide singles, spanning the years 1980 to 1988.
This period highlights the significant success of the San Antonio-born singer, songwriter, and exceptional guitar player, who released his debut album in late 1979. The compilation features key hits such as the Grammy-winning #1 hit "Sailing," the Oscar-winning #1 hit "Arthur’s Theme (Best That You Can Do)," and other Top 20 hits like "Ride Like The Wind," "Think Of Laura," and "All Right."
Christopher Cross made history at the 1981 Grammy Awards by sweeping the "Big Four" awards (Best Album, Best New Artist, Record of the Year, and Song of the Year) for his work, notably "Sailing." The compilation, available as a 2-LP set on colored vinyl and a 2-CD set, collects all original A-sides from the era, with the CD version also including 11 B-sides.

Christopher Cross is a very underrated artist. It may seem hard to think of someone who has achieved his level of success as an ‘underrated’ artist, but he is. During the ‘80s, he had numerous hit singles and albums, not to mention the numerous Grammy awards he won. Perhaps, underappreciated is a better description. He is certainly misunderstood.
When considering this new collection of his singles, during the ‘80s, the peak of his commercial success, and listening to the songs in 2025, one can certainly understand why these songs topped the charts. Cross’s music is pop perfection. His writing, arrangements, and production are all top-notch.
However, here is where the underrated part comes in.
He is also an incredible musician. His guitar playing, often subdued, is always spot on for the song. His music, which is admittedly easy-listening/pop, features some fine playing by him and the incredible session players on each album and single.
He filled in for Richie Blackmore of Deep Purple one time.
But on his own albums, he is more restrained and more refined, but still brilliant. The subtle, almost background, playing he does in 1988’s “Swept Away” adds a layer to the song. It is almost drowned out by the orchestration, but it is the cornerstone of the song. Or on the B-side/album cut “Spinning,” where he incorporates some tasteful R&B licks. It is pretty great.
As a songwriter, no one can dispute Christopher Cross’s talent. This is due to his use of melody combined with interesting and often introspective lyrics. A song like “Arthur’s Theme (Best You Can Do)” is a master class in writing.
However, it also has some interesting changes and melody lines. The song keeps you wondering where it is going to go. Sure, it was written to order for a film, but listen to the song separately from those visuals.
It is quite astounding, and the saxophone solo is an absolute killer. Another highlight is the track “Alibi,” with the wonderful line, “To live the truth I hide somewhere.” The song is great, although it would feel much more fitting higher on the album’s A-side.
The two-CD version of the collection gathers all of his B-sides, which tend to be deeper album cuts, but they sound fantastic collected here.
Songs like “Poor Shirley,” where Christopher Cross taps into his ‘60s influences and comes up with a very moving song with a detailed and unique vocal arrangement. It is great having these gems along with deeper cuts from his ‘80s catalogue.
The beauty of All Right: The Worldwide Singles 1980-1988 is that Cross has collected the singles, as well as specific single versions.
Not regarding the album or longer cuts, but the way the singles would have been played and heard. Artists do not often go the extra mile to find all of the archived seven-inch (and promo) edits. This allows the listener to enjoy these songs the way they may have 40 years ago.
He is not reinventing his past; he is collecting it for those who are interested.
All Right: The Worldwide Singles 1980-1988 is a well-thought-out and put-together compilation. Credit has to be given to the people who put this compilation together, multiple Grammy-winning producer Cheryl Pawelski (who has put together box sets by The Band and Hank Williams, among others), and Brad Rosenberger (Barbra Streisand, The Pointer Sisters). The set also features detailed liner notes written by Garrett Price.
It sounds amazing and is a very detailed account of Cross’s first decade in the world of pop music.
The album was produced and remastered by multiple Grammy-winning professionals and features liner notes by Garrett Price, director of the film Yacht Rock: A Dockumentary.

Cheap Trick - All Washed Up (2025)

All Washed Up is the twenty-first studio album by American rock band Cheap Trick, released on November 14, 2025.

The title of Cheap Trick's 21st album is definitely meant to be tongue in cheek, another bit of self-effacing, yet defiantly independent attitude from a band who shows no sign of slowing down.
All Washed Up is an impressive mix of high-octane rockers, grinding hard rock, tender ballads, and shimmering pop songs, all delivered with a wink and a kick in the pants. So, it's pretty much business as usual.
Rick Nielsen is still an absolute best on six strings, the rhythm section of Tom Petersson and Daxx Nielsen is rock solid, and Robin Zander has the same mix of wild abandon and subtle sensitivity that has been the hallmark of the band throughout their long career.
Indeed, the album plays like a sampler of all the styles they had taken in and conquered along the way.
Bruising power pop (the title track) bumps up against finely layered Beatle-esque pop ("Bad Blood"); pummeling arena rock ("The Riff That Won't Quit") nestles next to a jangling Tom Petty-ish melancholy number ("A Long Way to Worcester"), and swaggering, somewhat menacing tracks like "Bet It All" are paired with riffy songs that come across like AC/DC at their poppiest ("All Wrong Long.")
The band unsurprisingly knock the rockers and uptempo pop songs out of the park, Nielsen's oddball way with a hook has never failed him and Zander can put across a song with zing that's undimmed by time.
What's a bit of a shock is how great they sound on the big, goopy power ballads that one might have thought they would have consigned to the vault.
They do trot out the huge harmonies, slick layers of glistening guitars and synths, hooks so huge even Diane Warren would be jealous, and sentiments so sweet they could cause tooth decay.
"The Best Thing" is the most charming of the bunch, a breathless love song built around Zander's heartfelt vocal, an uplifting chord progression, and words that might have even the crustiest grump believing in the possibility of love.
"Twelve Gates" is another great example of mainstream Cheap Trick, stacking vocal harmonies and guitar jangle all the way up to heaven, while "Love Gone" flips the script to tell a heartbreak story with the same amount of soul, passion, and slickness.
If Roy Orbison were still on the planet, this would have been a perfect song for him to cover. The only song that seems to come from nowhere is the album ending "Wham Boom Bang," a jolly little knees up full of clarinets, cute guitar licks, and a saucy vocal from Zander.
The rest of the album is Cheap Trick through and through, every song a reminder of how their past achievements were truly special, while at the same time letting everyone know they are still cranking out songs with all the manic energy, gleeful abandon, and pure pop songcraft they've embraced from the start.
