Tavares (also known as The Tavares Brothers) is an American R&B and soul music group composed of five Cape Verdean-American brothers.
Some were born in New Bedford, Massachusetts, and Providence, Rhode Island, and they would move back and forth between the two cities throughout their childhood. They are best known for their hits "Heaven Must Be Missing an Angel" in 1976, and "It Only Takes a Minute", in 1975.
Tavares – Solid Gold - The Original Hits (often referred to as The Greatest Hits) is an essential compilation by the American soul/disco group, featuring iconic songs such as "Heaven Must Be Missing An Angel" and "More Than a Woman".
The album offers a strong, danceable overview of their golden age in the 70s.
This compilation contains the brothers' greatest hits, characterized by their distinctive soul sound, rich harmonies, and disco influences.
The songs are a mix of soul ballads and uptempo disco tracks, often produced in the classic Philadelphia soul style.
The first track, "What can I do" is a hard-to-find, never before released gem from the "Check it out" album recordings (1973).
It never appeared on any official Tavares album, but finally made it, 21 years later, in 1994, on this Dutch compilation.
